In 2021, the Europe concentrated pineapple juice market increased by 22% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. In general, consumption, however, recorded a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, concentrated pineapple juice exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 54%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

The Netherlands prevails in exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 88% of total exports in 2021. Italy (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Germany (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The Netherlands experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of concentrated pineapple juice. At the same time, Germany (+3.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Germany emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Europe, with a CAGR of +3.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Italy (-9.2%) and Spain (-9.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The export price in Europe stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 24% against the previous year. Export price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, concentrated pineapple juice export price increased by +49.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 36%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 14%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The Netherlands represented the key importer of concentrated pineapple juice in Europe, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 41% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Spain (X tons), Italy (X tons), France (X tons) and Germany (X tons), together creating a 37% share of total imports. Russia (X tons), the UK (X tons) and Austria (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Imports into the Netherlands increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Austria (+3.2%) and Germany (+1.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Austria emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Europe, with a CAGR of +3.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, France (-1.9%), Spain (-5.0%), Italy (-6.8%), the UK (-7.3%) and Russia (-7.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the Netherlands and Germany increased by +14 and +2.3 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

From 2017 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in the UK ($X per ton) and Russia ($X per ton), while France ($X per ton) and Germany ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
