Envelope Market Size in Eastern Europe

In 2023, after six years of decline, there was significant growth in the East European envelope market, when its value increased by X% to $X. Overall, consumption, however, saw a perceptible slump. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2023, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Envelope Production in Eastern Europe

In value terms, envelope production fell to $X in 2023 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, saw a mild contraction. Exports in Eastern Europe

After two years of growth, shipments abroad of envelopes decreased by X% to X tons in 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2022, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, envelope exports dropped to $X in 2023. Total exports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, exports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2022, and then declined in the following year.

Exports by Country

Poland represented the key exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached X% of total exports. Hungary (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Slovakia (X%), Romania (X%) and the Czech Republic (X%). Russia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to envelope exports from Poland stood at X%. At the same time, Russia (X%), Romania (X%) and Hungary (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Slovakia (X%) and the Czech Republic (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Poland (X p.p.), Hungary (X p.p.), Romania (X p.p.) and Russia (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the Czech Republic and Slovakia saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively.

In value terms, Poland ($X) remains the largest envelope supplier in Eastern Europe, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Slovakia ($X), with an X% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with a X% share.

In Poland, envelope exports expanded at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2023. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Slovakia (X% per year) and Hungary (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Eastern Europe stood at $X per ton in 2023, with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2023, it increased at an average annual rate of X%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Eastern Europe

For the fourth year in a row, Eastern Europe recorded decline in supplies from abroad of envelopes, which decreased by X% to X tons in 2023. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a perceptible descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, envelope imports shrank to $X in 2023. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2023, the Czech Republic (X tons) represented the major importer of envelopes, achieving X% of total imports. Hungary (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Poland (X%), Romania (X%) and Slovakia (X%). The following importers - Russia (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons) - each finished at an X% share of total imports.

Imports into the Czech Republic decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. Romania and Poland experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Slovakia (X%), Hungary (X%), Bulgaria (X%) and Russia (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2023, the share of Romania, the Czech Republic and Poland increased by X, X and X percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
