In 2022, shipments abroad of frozen cuts of chicken was finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. In general, exports saw resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 109% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, frozen chicken cut exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 79%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The United Arab Emirates dominates exports structure, recording X tons, which was approx. 79% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons), together creating an 18% share of total exports. Oman (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

Exports from the United Arab Emirates increased at an average annual rate of +11.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Oman (+37.9%), Saudi Arabia (+26.7%) and Kuwait (+15.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in GCC, with a CAGR of +37.9% from 2012-2022. In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest frozen chicken cut supplier in GCC, comprising 82% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia ($X), with an 8.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Kuwait, with a 6.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United Arab Emirates totaled +13.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Saudi Arabia (+29.6% per year) and Kuwait (+14.6% per year).

The export price in GCC stood at $X per ton in 2022, jumping by 39% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
