From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Senegal (X kg) represented roughly 100% of total exports in 2021.

Senegal experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of frozen whole turkeys. While the share of Senegal (+99 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In general, imports, however, recorded a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 82%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, frozen whole turkey imports amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 99%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Mali (X tons) and Ghana (X tons) represented the main importers of frozen whole turkeys in 2022, recording near 40% and 31% of total imports, respectively. Cabo Verde (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Liberia (X tons). All these countries together held near 18% share of total imports. Nigeria (X tons) and Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Mali (with a CAGR of +51.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Mali ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported frozen whole turkeys in ECOWAS, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ghana ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Cabo Verde, with a 10% share.

In Mali, frozen whole turkey imports increased at an average annual rate of +51.8% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Ghana (+19.4% per year) and Cabo Verde (+4.5% per year).
