Moreover, fresh chicken cut production in Indonesia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, the Philippines (X tons), twofold. Vietnam (X tons) ranked third in terms of total production with a 14% share.

After two years of decline, overseas shipments of fresh or chilled cuts of chicken increased by 39% to X tons in 2021. Overall, exports recorded a perceptible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 105%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, fresh chicken cut exports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, exports enjoyed a noticeable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 218%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Thailand prevails in exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 96% of total exports in 2021. Malaysia (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of fresh or chilled cuts of chicken increased by 1.1% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports posted a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 88%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, fresh chicken cut imports shrank to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 119%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Myanmar was the key importer of fresh or chilled cuts of chicken in ASEAN, with the volume of imports reaching X tons, which was approx. 70% of total imports in 2021.
