The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In general, total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Germany (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of technical textiles exports from the Netherlands, with a combined 46% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +53.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for technical textiles exports from the Netherlands, comprising 23% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 9.7% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with an 8.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany totaled +12.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+15.5% per year) and the Czech Republic (+37.1% per year).

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +91.9% against 2012 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Imports by Country

China (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of technical textiles imports to the Netherlands, together accounting for 74% of total imports. These countries were followed by Israel, Denmark, Poland, Spain, the United States, Italy, Sweden and France, which together accounted for a further 19%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Denmark (with a CAGR of +43.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Israel ($X) and China ($X) were the largest technical textiles suppliers to the Netherlands, together accounting for 57% of total imports. These countries were followed by Belgium, Denmark, the United States, Sweden, Italy, Spain, France and Poland, which together accounted for a further 28%.

Among the main suppliers, Denmark, with a CAGR of +50.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average technical textiles import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 1.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a slight slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average import price increased by 17%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
