In 2022, the average import price for press-fasteners, snap-fasteners, press-studs and parts therefor amounted to $21,176 per ton, with an increase of 2.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $24,820 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($34,053 per ton), while the price for China ($18,261 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for press-fasteners, snap-fasteners, press-studs and parts therefor stood at $21,000 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 12% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 31% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $35,793 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($29,062 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ethiopia ($5,381 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Papua New Guinea (+10.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
