The average tobacco, unmanufactured; tobacco refuse import price stood at $5,594 per ton in July 2023, dropping by -5.8% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $5,940 per ton in June 2023, and then shrank in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($10,771 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($4,156 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bangladesh (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average tobacco, unmanufactured; tobacco refuse export price amounted to $4,645 per ton, falling by -8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a slight reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 32%. The export price peaked at $7,562 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($6,236 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,596 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
