Potato Price in Slovenia (CIF) - 2022
The average potato import price stood at $463 per ton in 2022, picking up by 3.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 24%. The import price peaked at $563 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($710 per ton), while the price for Israel ($370 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Potato Price in Slovenia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average potato export price amounted to $522 per ton, picking up by 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a mild decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 46%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $631 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($713 per ton), while the average price for exports to Albania ($259 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Latvia (+13.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Potato Imports in Slovenia
In 2022, purchases abroad of potatoes was finally on the rise to reach 52K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, recorded a pronounced descent.
In value terms, potato imports skyrocketed to $24M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a abrupt contraction.
