Nuts Price in Mexico (CIF) - 2022
The average nuts import price stood at $4,474 per ton in 2022, increasing by 10% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 10% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $4,854 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United States amounted to -0.8% per year.
Nuts Price in Mexico (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average nuts export price amounted to $4,609 per ton, shrinking by -6.3% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 42%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $4,918 per ton, and then reduced in the following year.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,721 per ton), while the average price for exports to China totaled $4,373 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Nuts Imports in Mexico
Nuts imports into Mexico expanded to 57K tons in 2022, picking up by 2.4% compared with 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 4.4%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 86K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, nuts imports expanded rapidly to $256M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep slump.
