The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 37%. Over the period under review, global imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, non-domestic dryer imports reached $2.3B in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 11%. Over the period under review, global imports hit record highs at $2.3B in 2019; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

Imports By Country

The purchases of the seven major importers of non-domestic dryers, namely Egypt, the Philippines, Mexico, the United States, Brazil, Russia and Canada, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Kuwait (112K units), the United Arab Emirates (101K units), India (101K units), Taiwan (Chinese) (74K units), China (56K units) and Chile (55K units) held a minor share of total imports.

The Philippines, with a CAGR of +15.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices By Country

The average non-domestic dryer import price stood at $682 per unit in 2022, declining by -24.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,077 per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($3,802 per unit), while Egypt ($30 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In value terms, non-domestic dryer exports fell slightly to $2.3B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 17%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $2.3B, leveling off in the following year.

China dominates exports structure, amounting to 3.5M units, which was approx. 87% of total exports in 2022. Taiwan (Chinese) (87K units) took a relatively small share of total exports.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the non-domestic dryers exports, with a CAGR of +16.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Taiwan (Chinese) (+6.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2022, the share of China increased by +15 percentage points.
