Japan (X tons), Poland (X tons), Belgium (X tons), South Korea (X tons), France (X tons), the UK (X tons) and the United States (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the lithium cells ans batteries exports, with a CAGR of +29.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Poland (+29.5%), Belgium (+14.7%), the Netherlands (+10.3%), South Korea (+9.3%), Germany (+8.0%), Hong Kong SAR (+6.3%), Indonesia (+5.4%), France (+4.1%), Japan (+3.2%) and the UK (+2.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. In value terms, the largest lithium battery supplying countries worldwide were the United States ($X), China ($X) and Hong Kong SAR ($X), with a combined 37% share of global exports. These countries were followed by Singapore, Indonesia, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, France, South Korea, Belgium, Poland and the UK, which together accounted for a further 47%.

Poland, with a CAGR of +26.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average lithium battery export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +82.9% against 2013 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 23% against the previous year. Global imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
