Virgin Olive Oil Market Size in Uganda

The Ugandan virgin olive oil market fell modestly to $X in 2022, with a decrease of X% against the previous year. In value terms, virgin olive oil exports dropped to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Exports by Country

South Sudan (X tons) was the main destination for virgin olive oil exports from Uganda, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, virgin olive oil exports to South Sudan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the UK (X kg), more than tenfold.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of X%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to South Sudan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Italy (X tons), Spain (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) were the main suppliers of virgin olive oil imports to Uganda, together comprising X% of total imports. Tunisia, Portugal, the United States, South Africa, Turkey, the UK and China lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Tunisia (with a CAGR of X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of X%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Portugal (X%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
