From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Zimbabwe (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, salt imports contracted to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, South Africa (X tons), distantly followed by Tanzania (X tons), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons), Zambia (X tons) and Zimbabwe (X tons) were the largest importers of salt and pure sodium chloride, together making up X% of total imports.
