France represented the major exporter of peas (green) in the world, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was near 29% of total exports in 2021. Guatemala (X tons) held a 13% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by the Netherlands (6.3%), the United States (5.8%), Mexico (5.4%), Poland (5.2%) and Germany (4.6%). China (X tons), Romania (X tons), Peru (X tons), Slovakia (X tons), Lithuania (X tons) and Zimbabwe (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Exports from France increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Lithuania (+48.0%), Poland (+39.0%), Slovakia (+30.5%), Peru (+7.5%) and the United States (+4.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lithuania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +48.0% from 2012-2021. Mexico, Zimbabwe, Germany, Guatemala and Romania experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the Netherlands (-1.3%) and China (-2.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of France (+8.8 p.p.), Poland (+4.9 p.p.), Lithuania (+1.8 p.p.) and Slovakia (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2012-2021, the share of the Netherlands (-1.9 p.p.) and China (-2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest green peas supplying countries from Puerto Rico were Guatemala ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and the United States ($X), together accounting for 49% of total exports. These countries were followed by Peru, France, Mexico, China, Zimbabwe, Germany, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Lithuania, which together accounted for a further 34%.

Poland, with a CAGR of +35.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Belgium represented the main importer of peas (green) in the world, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was approx. 43% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the Netherlands (X tons) and the United States (X tons), together making up a 28% share of total imports. The following importers - the UK (X tons), Canada (X tons), Germany (X tons), France (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) - together made up 14% of total imports.

Belgium was also the fastest-growing in terms of the peas (green) imports, with a CAGR of +5.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Germany (+4.6%), the UK (+3.9%) and the Netherlands (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. The United States and Canada experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, France (-3.2%) and Thailand (-7.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belgium increased by +13 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
