Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2023, approx. X litres of wine were exported in the Middle East; which is down by X% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, exports, however, posted a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X litres in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wine exports declined slightly to $X in 2023. Total exports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, exports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2022, and then fell slightly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Israel was the major exporting country with an export of around X litres, which resulted at X% of total exports. Turkey (X litres) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Lebanon (X%). The United Arab Emirates (X litres) held a little share of total exports.

Israel was also the fastest-growing in terms of the wine exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Turkey (X%), the United Arab Emirates (X%) and Lebanon (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2023, the share of Israel increased by X percentage points.

In 2023, purchases abroad of wine decreased by X% to X litres for the first time since 2020, thus ending a two-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2023; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2022 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X litres, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, wine imports contracted to $X in 2023. Total imports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, imports increased by X% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2022, and then declined in the following year.

The United Arab Emirates was the main importer of wine in the Middle East, with the volume of imports accounting for X litres, which was near X% of total imports in 2023. Israel (X litres) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Turkey (X%). The following importers - Lebanon (X litres), Bahrain (X litres) and Jordan (X litres) - together made up X% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to wine imports into the United Arab Emirates stood at X%. At the same time, Turkey (X%), Jordan (X%), Israel (X%), Bahrain (X%) and Lebanon (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkey emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the Middle East, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. While the share of Turkey (X p.p.) and Israel (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2023, the share of the United Arab Emirates (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
