Mushroom And Truffle Market Size in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2023, the Latin American mushroom and truffle market increased by X% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a mild downturn. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2023, consumption failed to regain momentum.

The level of production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, production remained at a lower figure.
Mexico (X tons) constituted the country with the largest volume of mushroom and truffle production, comprising approx. X% of total volume. Moreover, mushroom and truffle production in Mexico exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Guatemala (X tons), sixfold.
From 2012 to 2023, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume in Mexico was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Guatemala (X% per year) and Colombia (X% per year).
Mushroom And Truffle Exports
Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2023, shipments abroad of mushrooms and truffles decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a pronounced increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, mushroom and truffle exports fell significantly to $X in 2023. In general, exports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2022, and then plummeted in the following year.
Exports by Country
Mexico represented the largest exporter of mushrooms and truffles in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2023. It was distantly followed by Guatemala (X tons), mixing up a X% share of total exports. Colombia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Mexico increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Guatemala (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Guatemala emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Colombia (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Mexico (X p.p.) and Guatemala (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Colombia saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively.
In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest mushroom and truffle supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Guatemala ($X), with an X% share of total exports.
In Mexico, mushroom and truffle exports expanded at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2023. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Guatemala (X% per year) and Colombia (X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2023, rising by X% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2023, it increased at an average annual rate of X%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2023 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per ton), while Guatemala ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2023, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of mushrooms and truffles, when their volume decreased by X% to X tons. In general, imports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by X%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2022, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
In value terms, mushroom and truffle imports reduced to $X in 2023. Total imports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2023: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2023, Guatemala (X tons), distantly followed by Bahamas (X tons), Aruba (X tons), Trinidad and Tobago (X tons), El Salvador (X tons) and Costa Rica (X tons) were the largest importers of mushrooms and truffles, together committing X% of total imports. Antigua and Barbuda (X tons), Honduras (X tons), Panama (X tons), Mexico (X tons), Jamaica (X tons), Curacao (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Aruba (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2023, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Honduras ($X per ton), while Curacao ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by El Salvador (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
