Domestic Appliances Market Size in the Czech Republic

For the fifth consecutive year, the Czech domestic appliances market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 8.9% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, the total consumption indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +35.9% against 2015 indices. Domestic appliances consumption peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, domestic appliances production reduced to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.

In 2021, domestic appliances exports from the Czech Republic surged to X units, jumping by 17% compared with the year before. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Germany (X units) was the main destination for domestic appliances exports from the Czech Republic, accounting for a 45% share of total exports. Moreover, domestic appliances exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovakia (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Poland (X units), with a 5.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany stood at +2.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (+10.5% per year) and Poland (+3.0% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for domestic appliances exports from the Czech Republic, comprising 45% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Slovakia ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with a 5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany amounted to +8.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovakia (+13.5% per year) and Poland (+11.5% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average domestic appliances export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 2.8% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 17% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Domestic Appliances Imports

Imports into the Czech Republic

In 2021, approx. X units of domestic appliances were imported into the Czech Republic; rising by 21% against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 163%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, domestic appliances imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +96.7% against 2012 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

China (X units), Germany (X units) and Poland (X units) were the main suppliers of domestic appliances imports to the Czech Republic, together accounting for 56% of total imports. Slovakia, Italy, Turkey, Slovenia, Romania, Hungary, the Netherlands, Hong Kong SAR, Belgium and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 44%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Hong Kong SAR (with a CAGR of +63.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest domestic appliances suppliers to the Czech Republic were China ($X), Germany ($X) and Poland ($X), with a combined 52% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Slovakia, Italy, Turkey, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Hong Kong SAR, Hungary, Romania, Belgium and Finland, which together accounted for a further 37%.

Hong Kong SAR, with a CAGR of +76.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average domestic appliances import price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 8.1% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, domestic appliances import price increased by +45.2% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 127%. The import price peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per unit), while the price for Finland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+11.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
