Wine Market Size in Cuba

The Cuban wine market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2021, after two years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, showed a perceptible slump. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Rwanda (+27.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Cuba

In 2021, after four years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of wine, when their volume increased by 62% to X litres. Overall, imports, however, recorded a noticeable shrinkage. Imports peaked at X litres in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, wine imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Spain (X litres) constituted the largest supplier of wine to Cuba, accounting for a 45% share of total imports. Moreover, wine imports from Spain exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Chile (X litres), sixfold.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 18%. The import price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
