Glass Fibre Mat Market Size in Croatia

In 2022, the Croatian glass fibre mat market increased by 80% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a abrupt decline. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, approx. X tons of glass fibre mats were exported from Croatia; shrinking by -38.8% on 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 345% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, glass fibre mat exports contracted sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 320%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons) was the main destination for glass fibre mat exports from Croatia, accounting for a 66% share of total exports. Moreover, glass fibre mat exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovenia (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Greece (X tons), with a 6.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to +27.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovenia (+28.9% per year) and Greece (+32.9% per year).

In value terms, Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X) remains the key foreign market for glass fibre mats exports from Croatia, comprising 60% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Slovenia ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Greece, with a 7.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to +25.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovenia (+31.8% per year) and Greece (+40.9% per year).

The average glass fibre mat export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 48% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Germany ($X per ton) and Greece ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per ton) and Serbia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+25.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Croatia

In 2022, the amount of glass fibre mats imported into Croatia contracted to X tons, waning by -13.9% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a modest increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 166%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, glass fibre mat imports shrank notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed pronounced growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 102% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Poland (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of glass fibre mat imports to Croatia, together accounting for 61% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +22.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Poland ($X), Germany ($X) and Belgium ($X) appeared to be the largest glass fibre mat suppliers to Croatia, together accounting for 64% of total imports.
