Imports into Kazakhstan increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (X%), Uzbekistan (X%) and Mongolia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Central Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. While the share of Uzbekistan (X p.p.) and Kyrgyzstan (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2023, the share of Mongolia (X p.p.) and Kazakhstan (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, the largest aluminium cask, drum, can, box and similar container importing markets in Central Asia were Uzbekistan ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X), together comprising X% of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Central Asia stood at $X per unit in 2023, almost unchanged from the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2023, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (X%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
