In value terms, roasted malt exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Vietnam prevails in exports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Thailand (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Singapore (X tons) and Cambodia (X tons). All these countries together took approx. X% share of total exports. Malaysia (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to roasted malt exports from Vietnam stood at X%. At the same time, Thailand (X%) and Cambodia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Thailand emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Singapore (X%) and Malaysia (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Vietnam (X p.p.), Thailand (X p.p.) and Cambodia (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Malaysia (X p.p.) and Singapore (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the largest roasted malt supplier in ASEAN, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Thailand ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Singapore, with a X% share.
In Vietnam, roasted malt exports contracted by an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Thailand (X% per year) and Singapore (X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, increasing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a deep reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, purchases abroad of roasted malt increased by X% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a deep downturn. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, roasted malt imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a drastic downturn. The level of import peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Cambodia dominates imports structure, reaching X tons, which was near X% of total imports in 2022. Vietnam (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Myanmar (X tons). All these countries together held near X% share of total imports.
Cambodia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the roasted malt imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. Myanmar (X%) and Vietnam (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Cambodia (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Vietnam (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
