The African fruit and berry market reached $X in 2022, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Malawi (with a CAGR of X%), while production for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
The average fruit and berry yield reduced slightly to X tons per ha in 2022, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the yield, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the yield increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the yield reached the peak level of X tons per ha. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the fruit and berry yield remained at a lower figure. Total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. South Africa was the major exporter of fruits and berries in Africa, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. Morocco (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Egypt (X tons), Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) and Cameroon (X tons). All these countries together held near X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Tunisia (X tons), Ghana (X tons) and Algeria (X tons) - each finished at a X% share of total exports.
Exports from South Africa increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Algeria (X%), Morocco (X%), Ghana (X%), Egypt (X%) and Tunisia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Algeria emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Cote d'Ivoire (X%) and Cameroon (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. South Africa (X p.p.), Morocco (X p.p.) and Algeria (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Cote d'Ivoire and Cameroon saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
