In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the UK vacuum cleaner with motor market, when its value decreased by -10.3% to $X. Overall, the total consumption indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +35.3% against 2018 indices. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X, and then declined in the following year.

After two years of growth, overseas shipments of vacuum cleaners with motor decreased by -9.1% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +34.9% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 47%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, vacuum cleaner with motor exports fell sharply to $X in 2021. In general, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 44%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Ireland (X tons) was the main destination for vacuum cleaner with motor exports from the UK, accounting for a 36% share of total exports. Moreover, vacuum cleaner with motor exports to Ireland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X tons), twofold. France (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Ireland amounted to +2.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+11.2% per year) and France (+7.5% per year).

In value terms, Ireland ($X) remains the key foreign market for vacuum cleaner with motor exports from the UK, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Ireland totaled +5.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+11.4% per year) and France (+7.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average vacuum cleaner with motor export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with a decrease of -17.4% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 16% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Canada ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the UK

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of vacuum cleaners with motor decreased by -22% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, vacuum cleaner with motor imports fell to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +47.0% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest vacuum cleaner with motor supplier to the UK, accounting for a 81% share of total imports. Moreover, vacuum cleaner with motor imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), more than tenfold. Malaysia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 2.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +2.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+0.8% per year) and Malaysia (-17.9% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of vacuum cleaner with motor to the UK, comprising 70% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Philippines ($X), with an 8.1% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 6.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to +11.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Philippines (+27.4% per year) and Germany (+2.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the average vacuum cleaner with motor import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 18% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, vacuum cleaner with motor import price increased by +84.5% against 2012 indices. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
