The average zinc dust import price stood at $3,805 per ton in July 2023, which is down by -20.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 23% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $4,890 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($4,210 per ton), while the price for Iran ($3,550 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average zinc dust export price amounted to $2,715 per ton, with a decrease of -16.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a pronounced increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 80%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,259 per ton, and then plummeted in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($3,618 per ton), while the average price for exports to Georgia ($1,777 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Israel (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
