Wrapping Papers Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average wrapping papers import price amounted to $1,143 per ton, dropping by -8.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a mild curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 an increase of 3.5% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,395 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,557 per ton), while the price for the United States ($635 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Wrapping Papers Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2022

The average wrapping papers export price stood at $1,433 per ton in 2022, surging by 23% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.4%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Germany ($1,512 per ton) and Uzbekistan ($1,495 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($1,148 per ton) and Morocco ($1,177 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Morocco (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Wrapping Papers Imports in Turkey

In 2022, approx. 310K tons of wrapping paper, packaging paper and paperboard were imported into Turkey; growing by 10% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, total imports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +20.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +73.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, wrapping papers imports skyrocketed to $396M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a significant expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 19% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, wrapping papers exports skyrocketed to $38M in 2022. In general, exports posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 40%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
