Wood Pellets Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2023
In December 2023, the average wood pellets export price amounted to $121 per ton, declining by -10.3% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 8.4% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $249 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to December 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($143 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($115 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (-3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Wood Pellets Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average wood pellets import price amounted to $452 per ton, growing by 26% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 28%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $599 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
