Wine Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2023

In September 2023, the average wine import price amounted to $7.7 per litre, jumping by 78% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a measured increase from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.1% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, wine import price increased by +78.1% against August 2023 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($10.7 per litre), while the price for South Africa ($1.7 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Wine Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2022

The average wine export price stood at $4.5 per litre in 2022, surging by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($9.2 per litre), while the average price for exports to Cambodia ($2.5 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lao People's Democratic Republic (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Wine Imports in Thailand

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of wine, when their volume increased by 119% to 19M litres. In general, imports showed a resilient increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, wine imports soared to $124M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw significant growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Wine Exports in Thailand

Wine exports from Thailand reached 16M litres in 2022, growing by 13% compared with the year before. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, wine exports skyrocketed to $73M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +74.9% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
