Whole Fresh Milk Price in Croatia (CIF) - 2023
The average whole fresh milk import price stood at $540 per ton in July 2023, picking up by 5.6% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2022 an increase of 7.1% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $650 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Austria ($705 per ton) and Slovakia ($604 per ton), while the price for Hungary ($495 per ton) and Slovenia ($545 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovenia (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Whole Fresh Milk Price in Croatia (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average whole fresh milk export price amounted to $977 per ton, remaining stable against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 an increase of 12% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $995 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Mali ($1,331 per ton), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($724 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to North Macedonia (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Whole Fresh Milk Imports in Croatia
Whole fresh milk imports into Croatia expanded rapidly to 212K tons in 2022, picking up by 11% compared with the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, whole fresh milk imports surged to $121M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +59.6% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, shipments abroad of whole fresh milk decreased by -2.8% to 19K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports showed a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 14%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 25K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
