Vegetable Puree Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
The average vegetable puree import price stood at $4,710 per ton in August 2023, with a decrease of -8.6% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a measured expansion from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.4% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, vegetable puree import price increased by +28.9% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 an increase of 45% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $5,292 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($7,889 per ton), while the price for Colombia ($4,028 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average vegetable puree export price stood at $1,956 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -10.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a noticeable slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $2,475 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($3,606 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,572 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jamaica (+14.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Vegetable Puree Imports in the United States
For the fourth consecutive year, the United States recorded growth in supplies from abroad of vegetable puree, which increased by 1.3% to 537 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +53.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 42%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, vegetable puree imports contracted slightly to $2.1M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +9.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 30%.
