Vegetable Product Price in India (FOB) - 2023
The average vegetable product export price stood at $1,561 per ton in July 2023, increasing by 48% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 74% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $4,494 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Spain ($19,396 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nepal ($197 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+32.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Vegetable Product Price in India (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average vegetable product import price amounted to $3,488 per ton, surging by 63% against the previous year. In general, the import price enjoyed a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 217%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($7,134 per ton), while the price for Nepal ($1,009 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+14.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Vegetable Product Exports in India
In 2022, exports of vegetable products from India skyrocketed to 2.4K tons, with an increase of 32% on 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 72% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, vegetable product exports expanded slightly to $8.6M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +11.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 22%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of vegetable products was finally on the rise to reach 379 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, showed a sharp contraction.
In value terms, vegetable product imports surged to $1.3M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a noticeable curtailment.
