Unwrought Tin Alloys Price in Vietnam (CIF) - 2022
The average unwrought tin alloys import price stood at $23,574 per ton in 2022, dropping by -22.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, unwrought tin alloys import price increased by +29.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 67% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $30,272 per ton, and then declined notably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($26,495 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($10,923 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lao People's Democratic Republic (+34.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Unwrought Tin Alloys Price in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average unwrought tin alloys export price amounted to $6,849 per ton, with an increase of 2.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 60% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $23,597 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($39,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($6,429 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+15.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Unwrought Tin Alloys Imports in Vietnam
In 2022, overseas purchases of unwrought tin alloys were finally on the rise to reach 55 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage.
In value terms, unwrought tin alloys imports reduced to $1.3M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 19%.

According to October World Bank’s forecast, the average annual tin price should drop from an expected $31,250 per ton in 2021 to $31,000 per ton in 2022.
Tin prices rose to record levels in response to high demand from the electronics industry and a severe supply shortage on the market. The deficit has been driven on by pandemic-related decreases in mining output in 2020, the shipping container crisis and a drop in exports due to supply-chain disruptions. Prices are forecast to fall only in 2022 thanks to ramped-up mining output and supply and demand returning to equilibrium.
