Twine and Cordage Price in Serbia (FOB) - 2022
The average twine and cordage export price stood at $2,306 per ton in 2022, growing by 3% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 34%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($2,685 per ton) and Russia ($2,458 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($1,839 per ton) and Albania ($1,987 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Twine and Cordage Price in Serbia (CIF) - 2023
The average twine and cordage import price stood at $5,215 per ton in October 2023, declining by -4.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a perceptible decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 67% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $13,013 per ton. From January 2023 to October 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($34,197 per ton), while the price for Albania ($2,698 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Twine and Cordage Exports in Serbia
In 2022, shipments abroad of twine, cordage, rope and cables was finally on the rise to reach 5K tons after two years of decline. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a abrupt decrease.
In value terms, twine and cordage exports rose remarkably to $12M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a mild reduction.

Twine and Cordage Imports in Serbia
In 2022, purchases abroad of twine, cordage, rope and cables decreased by -10.1% to 832 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 34%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 972 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, twine and cordage imports reduced to $3M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 15%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $3.2M, and then declined in the following year.
