In 2022, the average spinach import price amounted to $2,209 per ton, with a decrease of -8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 45% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,974 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($2,601 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($1,031 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+13.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average spinach export price amounted to $580 per ton, waning by -10.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed a perceptible increase. There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($11,148 per ton), while the average price for exports to Romania ($256 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+152.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Spinach Imports in Greece
In 2022, spinach imports into Greece reduced to 428 tons, approximately mirroring the previous year. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern.
