Sour Cherry Price in the United States (FOB) - 2022

The average sour cherry export price stood at $6,934 per ton in 2022, rising by 7.5% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $7,640 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Trinidad and Tobago ($10,353 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($3,027 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+8.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Sour Cherry Price in the United States (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average sour cherry import price amounted to $3,093 per ton, waning by -30% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 230% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $5,044 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($5,281 per ton), while the price for Turkey totaled $2,523 per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+21.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Sour Cherry Exports in the United States

In 2022, overseas shipments of sour cherries decreased by -65% to 1.2K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports showed a precipitous descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 3.8K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, sour cherry exports contracted remarkably to $8.5M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a sharp slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 53%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $28M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
