Sesame Oil Price in Colombia (CIF) - 2022
The average sesame oil import price stood at $6,352 per ton in 2022, picking up by 2.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, sesame oil import price decreased by -11.3% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $7,158 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($8,630 per ton), while the price for Lebanon ($2,257 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sesame Oil Price in Colombia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average sesame oil export price amounted to $6,426 per ton, shrinking by -18% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 a decrease of -0.1%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $7,832 per ton in 2021, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Canada.

Sesame Oil Imports in Colombia
Sesame oil imports into Colombia plummeted to 67 tons in 2022, declining by -20.8% against 2021 figures. In general, total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +46.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 84% against the previous year. In value terms, sesame oil imports dropped remarkably to $428K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 59%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $526K, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
