Sawnwood (Non-Coniferous) Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average sawnwood (non-coniferous) export price amounted to $468 per cubic meter, dropping by -3.8% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 72% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $575 per cubic meter in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($699 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($259 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sawnwood (Non-Coniferous) Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average sawnwood (non-coniferous) import price amounted to $647 per cubic meter, declining by -56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average import price increased by 120% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,187 per cubic meter. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ecuador ($4,660 per cubic meter), while the price for Argentina ($123 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ecuador (+20.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sawnwood (Non-Coniferous) Exports in Brazil
In 2022, exports of sawnwood (non-coniferous) from Brazil expanded to 431K cubic meters, growing by 2.2% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, exports, however, showed a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 3.6% against the previous year. The exports peaked at 445K cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, sawnwood (non-coniferous) exports skyrocketed to $193M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $208M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, imports, however, faced a deep contraction. Imports peaked at 25K cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, sawnwood (non-coniferous) imports dropped dramatically to $10M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, faced a precipitous decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 33%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $33M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
