In October 2023, the average import price for yarn; of jute or of other textile bast fibres, singles amounted to $797 per ton, declining by -4.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a slight contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 6.1% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $956 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to October 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Bangladesh.

Over the period under review, export price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 36%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,834 per ton in 2021, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($3,162 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($1,079 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
