The average import price for wood charcoal (including shell or nut charcoal), whether or not agglomerated stood at $952 per ton in 2022, rising by 3.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 191%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $2,145 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($2,701 per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($636 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Austria amounted to +21.2% per month.
