In November 2023, the average export price for white sugar (containing >= 99,5% sucrose) and chemically pure sucrose amounted to $840 per ton, growing by 2.7% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 19% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,324 per ton. From May 2023 to November 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In November 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Bulgaria ($899 per ton) and Greece ($868 per ton), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia ($786 per ton) and Slovenia ($819 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to North Macedonia (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average import price for white sugar (containing >= 99,5% sucrose) and chemically pure sucrose stood at $934 per ton in November 2023, rising by 3.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2023 an increase of 35% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,254 per ton. From September 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Hungary ($1,297 per ton), while the price for Bosnia and Herzegovina ($806 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of White Sugar (Containing >= 99,5% Sucrose) and Chemically Pure Sucrose in Serbia
In 2022, approx. 107K tons of white sugar (containing >= 99,5% sucrose) and chemically pure sucrose were exported from Serbia; which is down by -41.5% on the previous year. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a temperate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 93% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 183K tons, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
In value terms, exports of white sugar (containing >= 99,5% sucrose) and chemically pure sucrose shrank notably to $79M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 114%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $100M, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
