Price for Waste, Parings and Scrap, of Plastics in Poland (FOB) - 2022

The average export price for waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses stood at $651 per ton in 2022, surging by 25% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for waste, parings and scrap, of plasticses increased by +56.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 25%. The export price peaked at $666 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Overall, the import price showed a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2023 an increase of 15% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $566 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to October 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($1,358 per ton), while the price for Norway ($112 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 41%. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
