The average tobacco; "homogenised" or "reconstituted" import price stood at $3,817 per ton in July 2023, falling by -36.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed slight growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 91% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $7,124 per ton. From January 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($17,665 per ton), while the price for France ($777 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 55% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $15,399 per ton in 2021, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($14,145 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($4,093 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
