In August 2023, the average import price for stainless steel; flat-rolled products of width less than 600mms amounted to $4,078 per ton, flattening at the previous month. Over the period from December 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 17% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,278 per ton. From March 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Austria ($10,222 per ton), while the price for Italy ($2,569 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, the export price showed a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 87%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $6,107 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($9,071 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($2,368 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cabo Verde (+11.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
