Price for Spices; Ginger, Neither Crushed Nor Ground in Brazil (FOB) - 2024

In February 2024, the average export price for spices; ginger, neither crushed nor ground amounted to $1,885 per ton, with a decrease of -18.5% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a noticeable expansion from February 2023 to February 2024: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on February 2024 figures, export price for spices; ginger, neither crushed nor ground decreased by -20.3% against December 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 an increase of 29% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,367 per ton in December 2023; however, from January 2024 to February 2024, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In February 2024, the country with the highest price was France ($2,308 per ton), while the average price for exports to Argentina ($1,343 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2023 to February 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uruguay (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price peaked at $2,751 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
