Price for Soya Beans; Other than Seed, Whether or Not Broken in India (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average import price for soya beans; other than seed, whether or not brokens amounted to $594 per ton, falling by -5.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 2.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $758 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Benin ($621 per ton) and Niger ($621 per ton), while the price for Mozambique ($570 per ton) and Tanzania ($572 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Niger (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for soya beans; other than seed, whether or not brokens stood at $629 per ton in July 2023, growing by 1.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 41% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $913 per ton. From February 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($795 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nepal ($611 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Soya Beans; Other than Seed, Whether or Not Broken in India

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of soya beans; other than seed, whether or not brokens decreased by -20.4% to 489K tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 126% against the previous year.

In value terms, imports of soya beans; other than seed, whether or not brokens fell to $416M in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 167% against the previous year.
