In 2022, the average export price for rubber amounted to $11,554 per ton, surging by 16% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for rubber increased by +48.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 36% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $11,603 per ton in 2018; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($64,915 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($2,352 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+24.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for rubber stood at $20,630 per ton in December 2023, falling by -17.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, posted a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 137% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $33,067 per ton. From May 2023 to December 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($56,094 per ton), while the price for Austria ($5,319 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+7.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, shipments abroad of rubber decreased by -11.9% to 2.1K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports showed a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 3.1% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 3.3K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, exports of rubber expanded slightly to $24M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a deep setback.
