In November 2023, the average import price for oils and products of the distillation of high temperature coal tar; xyloles amounted to $1,157 per ton, waning by -10.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 9.9% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,345 per ton in September 2023; however, from October 2023 to November 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($2,213 per ton), while the price for Germany ($1,102 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average export price for oils and products of the distillation of high temperature coal tar; xyloles amounted to $1,144 per ton, rising by 47% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a slight contraction. The export price peaked at $1,299 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($2,672 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($703 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+15.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of oils and products of the distillation of high temperature coal tar; xyloles decreased by -10.3% to 4.8K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports saw a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 4% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 5.5K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of oils and products of the distillation of high temperature coal tar; xyloles soared to $5.9M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +83.9% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In general, exports faced a dramatic decline. The smallest decline of -17.7% was in 2021.
In value terms, exports of oils and products of the distillation of high temperature coal tar; xyloles fell markedly to $123K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a significant contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 11%.
