In October 2023, the average import price for nuts, edible; cashew nuts, shelled, fresh or drieds amounted to $5,882 per ton, declining by -2.6% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 8.5% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $6,991 per ton. From December 2022 to October 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($6,075 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($3,793 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for nuts, edible; cashew nuts, shelled, fresh or drieds stood at $7,663 per ton in 2022, standing approx. at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 114%. The export price peaked at $11,109 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($11,388 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($6,600 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jordan (+68.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

For the fourth year in a row, Bulgaria recorded growth in overseas purchases of nuts, edible; cashew nuts, shelled, fresh or drieds, which increased by 2.4% to 1.8K tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +22.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +81.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 38%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, imports of nuts, edible; cashew nuts, shelled, fresh or drieds expanded slightly to $12M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +64.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 40% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
