In 2022, the average export price for molluscs; octopus (octopus spp.), live, fresh or chilleds amounted to $10,592 per ton, surging by 124% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a remarkable increase. The export price peaked at $11,536 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($17,800 per ton), while the average price for exports to Greece ($6,413 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2018 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malta (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of molluscs; octopus (octopus spp.), live, fresh or chilleds, when their volume decreased by -99.6% to 434 kg. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 99 tons, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, exports of molluscs; octopus (octopus spp.), live, fresh or chilleds reduced rapidly to $4.6K in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a sharp reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 2,915% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $471K, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
