The average export price for lead oxides; red lead and orange leads stood at $2,494 per ton in December 2022, increasing by 4.1% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 16% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $3,101 per ton in December 2021; however, from January 2022 to December 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In December 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices to Vietnam ($3,235 per ton) and Australia ($3,067 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($2,292 per ton) and Pakistan ($2,318 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Vietnam (0.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, posted a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 85%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $12,443 per ton, and then contracted markedly in the following year.
